Playoff Trash Talk - Week 2

Let the trash talk begin....

Lets talk about the team's that are left that matter, not the one that is 0-2 when it mattered and is no longer relevant.

Blue 5:2
Purple 3:1
Red 4:1
Black 8:1
Yellow 10:1

Blue has the hardest road to a championship, having to face both Purple and Red assuming winner of Black-Yellow doesn’t run out of that Cinderella magic.

Lot’s of good story-lines heading into this last week:
Can Jelani three-peat?
Does Matt show in the finals again?
Does Blue continue their strong end of season run?
Will Purple cement themselves at top just as they did in the regular season?
Will ZYellow prove that they should not be discounted?

Special players make special plays on special days and Dylan proved his mettle on his game winning drive when he could have totally folded after that absolutely back breaking INT.

Black and yellow are still alive. Together, they comprise a good portion of the previous 2 championship teams. Now they fight this weekend against each other for the right to move on. Will Z be able to get into the head of his old QB? Or will Jelani lead black to the semis?

Purple and Red may be a Finals preview. Of course one of them has to get through Blue first. Let’s ask Blue, who would you rather face in the semis, purple or red?

Yellow barely beat silver when silver was down a defender the whole game. Hop off your high horse. You guys are about to get smashed by either blue, red or purple. Cheers

Silver was down a defender and missing 2 of top 3. The fact yellow needed a phantom call to win the game is funny.

The audacity you have to mention yellow benefiting from a phantom call is mind blowing. You had to resort to chicken shit football all game lying about not being tagged and then you benefited from the legitimate worst call I've ever been apart of with the miraculous knee interception that everyone and their mother knows hit the ground.

The 1045 game of silver versus blue is meaningless. Regardless if blue wins or loses they are still the first place in their pool. Regardless if silver wins or loses they’re not making the A championship.
Both blue and silver should elect to not play that game. Silver doesn’t want to play because they’re not playing for anything and blue doesn’t want to risk injuring any players leading into the championship weekends. Give the 1045 game to the bumblebees.

Blue needs to see how many pts they can put up and see how far of a FG they can kick... for playoffs

I have bin in this leauge for 4 years now and I love the leauge!

I look forward to my Saturday mornings playing ball and shooting the shit afterwards..

The spirit of this leauge is great and I dont think it should be questioned.. a few bad moments does not overshadow the overall commitment too good sportsmanship.

Another great part of this leauge is the commpetiive spirit.. everyone wants to win, everyone tries thier best. If it was not for everyones passion too win I dont think this leauge would be the same. That being said the commpettive sides of people dont always mix with great sportsmanship. I do feel it's a one off and for me it doesn't take away from the fun of the leauge.

I love this leauge and I truly hope too play with my son one day..

Couldn’t get one offensive play from purple in the highlights... boring

As much as I'd love to give Black credit for knocking us out I think what really knocked us out was the Super Dave flop to get a first goal from the 1 last week. Cause I know for a fact we smash Blue this week.

Was that photo the penalty that was called? If so, QB has the ball still, so the call should be illegal contact not pass interference, resulting in a ten yard penalty only. If the foul was on the catch attempt, then it’s a spot foul and the ball placement was correct.

It’s done now, but would good to clarify for next time.

That PI call was botched

We need instant replay and the ability for 1 challenge per game. If a challenge is successful, you don't lose it.

We would have to invest in another gopro and maybe a manned command center where video can be streamed realtime and analyzed, but its a small price to pay to be able to get the calls right.

3 refs in all playoff games not just finals? Only so much field 2 refs can watch, another set of eyes would help. I imagine there's enough guys that players could step up to be the third.

I fully support the suggestion to get another drone.

5 Teams left, lets break'em down

Blue
This team is just stacked on both sides. They can throw the best 4 receivers (Nick, Taylor, Semanski Bros) with best check down receiver in the history of the league in Big Pete. Kyle may not have the same arm as Dylan or Jelani but he makes the right play. This team is the favourite, just ask Luc or Remy.

Purple
Death, taxes, and Noah in the semis. He gets here with whoever he has got, but this year he's got studs. Unlike the other 4 QBs left, Noah gives you nothing on D, so that may be his downfall. All the other QBs are elite defenders and athletes, and Noah is well, not. Purple will score, and to their D's credit, they were 2nd in the regular season in PA and 1st in playoffs, so maybe their D is legit. No question Purple can win the championship, another favourite right behind Blue.

Red
It feels like we haven't really seen Red this year. Most of their games, one of the teams weren't at full strength. They started really strong, but looked very average in the playoffs. They barely beat White and were down to Green for a good part of the game. It wouldn't surprise me if Red wins the next 3 games in blowouts and makes this season a joke, but I could also see them losing to Black or Blue in laugher. Matt is probably the best QB in the league and a top 5 defender. I don't think this team has the depth though that the rest of the teams in the mix have.

Yellow
Z is still the best player in our league. Anytime you have him, you have a chance. He affects the game in so many ways. Dylan has had some moments this year and although makes his share of mistakes, is a core QB in this league for years to come. He will have his championships, I just don't know if it'll be this year. Oh I forgot, they have JJ. Finals lock.

Black
After starting 0-6, most wrote Black and Jelani off. He did the league a huge favour and took down the evil empire in week 1 of the playoffs. Was that Black's championship? They looked pedestrian last week as Blue rolled over them. They have evolved into a good team, but I fear they are not a great team. Murgatron and TO are great pieces on a championship caliber team, but they are a 2-3, not a 1-2. This team badly needs a 1.

Hey Glen, I feel bad that you are not going to be in the semi finals. You drafted a great team, threw amazing and lost some close games that could of went either way. You did amazing for your first year. That being said I want to make you an offer so you can at least be apart of Red’s semi final appearance in the playoffs this year so you are not left out. Wow!! I was told last week I should go read the boards because of all the shit going on here!! They were right!!

How I see it.

Realistically black beat us because our defence could not stop the Jelani to T.O combination all game when it mattered and Spack under threw the last couple balls of our last drive to give us the win. Either way good game black and good luck!!

Yellow- there was the phantom tag which I don’t know if he was touched or not to be honest. I never did ask. The crazy catch between jacks knees (I was standing beside him and I was the one who told him to run because I believe he caught it. I have no idea how but good job). The Dave Z spot where he fell our defender also fell. Again I was standing beside it and think they just got tangled up. Either way it was a great game that went back and forth. Good luck yellow and good game. If we had a 7th defender it may or may not of been different. But that’s our teams fault not yellows.

These were both great games and fun!! Let’s not make any of this personal and play some ball!

Either way we will come out and play ball to win every week because we are here for fun and beer!!! See ya on the top of the hill!!
